A young woman investigating her sister’s suicide at a private girls’ school finds herself battling a satanic cult.
Getting mad at the kids? Feeling overwhelmed as a mom. Deseret News blogger Christie talks about how she feels Satan has entered her life as a mom.
That’s the kind of thing that happens when you allow satan to steal your motherhood.
No, it’s not the mistakes. It’s not the forgetfulness. It is what happens on the inside that no one else sees. And he knows just how to get to you.
He admires you, you know. But only when you yell at your kids, complain about tasks that need to be done regardless of how many people are in your home. He loves it when you wish you were the mom with the skinny jeans and tall boots and shiny hair with the perfectly groomed kids at the mall play area. You look at her and think you are subpar. Satan loves that.
Satan also loves it when you get scared because someone posted a random video online of how their 4-year-old can read, so you freak out that your 4-year-old is more interested in roaming outdoors and playing with bobby pins and giving them names, so you panic because books are the last thing on her mind. Satan is clapping now.
Satan also adores you when you get on the phone and ignore your kids, when you hide your true feelings and dreams and frustrations with your husband with a weak “I’m fine” and when you feel like this fun birthday party at the park for your children isn’t “the best” compared to someone else’s insanely expensive Pinterest celebration.
Satan wants you to fail. And to feel alone. And to feel inadequate to what Someone Else has called you to do.
Because I might as well have left the front door unlocked and allowed a thief to come right in my home yesterday. I mean, why not? I let Satan in. After all the fussing and nagging and utter bone tired exhaustion, I crawled into bed with my 3-year-old for a moment. Just to apologize.
“I am so sorry today was so rough.”
“I didn’t think it was rough. I thought it was fun!”
“Really? Which part was fun?”
“The part where we played on the couch like we were on a boat. Where we ‘fished’ with your belt as a fishing line, and used the couch pillows for life boats.”
Tears started rolling down my cheeks.
“Please pray for me. That I can be a better Mommy.”
“Oh, I did! Earlier today. When it was sunny. Right before we played the boat game.”
Today I’m locking the door tight to whatever evil enters my heart and home.

Right-wing ranter Avi Lipkin is back with his anti-Muslim, anti-Obama rhetoric. Appearing on Dove TV, Lipkin spread the (false) idea that Obama said he would never to war against the Muslim world.
“He said this in his book that he will never go to war against another Muslim country,” Lipkin said. He continued his rant by saying Obama was actually going to play host for the Muslim world, in an event the obviously ends with Obama selling the soul of the American people to the devil.
“They’re going to come to the United States and the Muslim president is going to receive them,” Lipkins warned. “It’s a horrible situation for the United States in my opinion unless people think that selling the soul of America to the Devil is a good thing.”

(CNN) — Satanists have unveiled their design for a proposed statue at the Oklahoma state Capitol, including a place for people to sit on the devil’s lap “for inspiration and contemplation.”
The New York-based Satanic Temple submitted its proposal to Oklahoma officials this month after applying for a spot on Capitol grounds late last year. The Satanists say their statue would “complement and contrast” with a Ten Commandments monument placed at the Capitol in Oklahoma City in 2012.
The Satanists’ proposed monument depicts Baphomet, a goat-headed pagan idol sitting on a 7-foot-tall throne inscribed with an inverted pentagram. In an artist’s rendering provided by the Satanic Temple, smiling children look adoringly at the devilish figure.
“The statue will serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures,” Lucien Greaves, a spokesman for the Satanic Temple, said in a…

“The opposition is always going to throw stones, and that’s they’re way of discouraging,” anti-gay activist Bob Vander Plaats said. “I mean, Satan’s ways are not new under the sun, he wants to discourage, he wants to disappoint.”
Miranda Barbour has confessed to killing as many as 100 people in retribution for her own childhood of abuse. It is a claim even her mother, Elizabeth Dean, cannot believe, despite Miranda’s troubled childhood in Alaska.
“She would be gone for days at a time,” Dean said of her daughter, now age 19. “I would be out on the streets looking for her.”
Miranda’s mom also described in a recent media interview incidents where Miranda would harm herself. While in Alaska, Miranda’s alleged training ground for her crime spree, the teen was also known to hang out on the docks, winding up pregnant at young age.
After Barbour’s arrest, however, Dean was handed a journal that Miranda’s husband insisted was written by his teen wife. Inside of it, according to her mother, are the chronicles of a deranged killing spree that her mother insists ‘can’t be true.’
So what should be made of this alleged diary of a serial killer? Reporter Francis Scarcella, of the Daily Item, talked about his interview with Miranda, what evidence may be found in the journal, and if this teen should be believed in a story published in the New York Post.
Miranda fills in the missing days of her childhood with stories of horrors. She was part of a Satanic cult, she says, a gang that would perform occult rituals in the Alaskan woods.
She first killed at age 13.
“I lured a man into an alley that owed the gang leader money,” Miranda said.
“He shot the man and then gave me the gun and told me it was my turn. I hate guns and I couldn’t do it, so he put his hands on my hands and we pulled the trigger,” she said.
Authorities are still trying to find out if there is any truth to what Miranda is claiming.
Miranda explained at that point she knew she had something bad inside her and that Satanism let her embrace it.
After that, she said she only targeted “bad people” and those who had hurt children. She says she’s willing to “pinpoint on a map” where she murdered.
An ex-boyfriend, meanwhile, has given Dean an old journal he claims is Miranda’s — a diary the mother will not release but wants to talk to her about.
“There are things in here that just can’t be true,” Dean said. “Some of this I just don’t believe.
“I don’t believe she has done any of what she is saying, and I don’t know why she is saying all of these things.”
“Who’s to say how many,” Elytte said about his wife’s claims during a phone call placed to reporters.
“I know what she told me was 50-50.”
Authorities are still scrambling in various states trying to see if there is any truth to what Miranda is claiming.
