Champaign Attacker Claims He is ‘Son of Satan’

This week, an Illinois man attacked a woman claiming he was the ‘Son of Satan.’

A Champaign man who told a woman Monday that he was sent to kill her is in custody at the Champaign County Jail.

Aaron Munds, 40, who listed an address on Holmes Court, was arrested for home invasion and attempted murder after a bizarre attack on a woman at a home in Thomasboro at mid-day Monday.

In spite of being choked nearly to unconsciousness and threatened repeatedly with death, the 67-year-old woman escaped serious injury.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Coile said about 12:10 p.m. Monday, Munds knocked on the door of a home on County Road 2400 N where the Urbana woman was acting as a caregiver to her older sister.

The woman did not recognize Munds and asked him what he wanted. He held out a lottery ticket and told her he had been sent to give it to her.

As the woman unlocked the door, he barged in, saying: “I am the son of Satan and was sent here to kill you,” Coile said.

Las Vegas Woman Blames Demons for Drowning Her Son

The Las Vegas Sun reported 30-year-old Christine Allen believes demons took over her body forcing her to drown her young son.

Christine Allen claimed the voices in her head told her to drown her son, Metro Police say.

Allen, 30, Las Vegas, had been lying on her bed Saturday, depressed, while her son Noah Lane Allen, 3, was taking a bath.

Then, Allen told police, it “was like a demon inside of me took over.” She went into the bathroom and asked her son if he wanted to go swimming. At first the boy answered yes. Allen then got into the tub and held her son’s head under water, according to a Metro Police arrest report released today. The boy struggled to get his head above water and told his mother he didn’t want to go swimming, but Allen pushed the boy’s head back under the surface.

Allen was booked on Saturday into Clark County Detention Center on one count of open murder in her son’s drowning. Clark County prosecutors today charged her with murder.

According to the arrest report, Allen told police she suffered from depression and was getting evicted from her apartment at the time. She was also divorced from her husband, who was not offering any support in raising her son.

She told Metro homicide detectives that drowning her son was the only thing she could do because of the voices in her head. She said she felt she thought Noah would be better off with God, rather than part of a split family, the report said.

Emergency responders arrived about 6:15 p.m. to her apartment in the 7800 block of Clarkdale Drive, near Buffalo and Vegas drives, after Allen reported that her son had drowned. The 911 operator instructed Allen to take her son out of the tub to start CPR, but Allen refused saying it was too late, the report said.

Noah was found unresponsive and transported to Summerlin Hospital, where he died.

Satanic Teen Serial Killer Miranda Barbour Kept Journal Chronicling Her Alleged Crimes (or Fantasies)

Miranda Barbour has confessed to killing as many as 100 people in retribution for her own childhood of abuse. It is a claim even her mother, Elizabeth Dean, cannot believe, despite Miranda’s troubled childhood in Alaska.

“She would be gone for days at a time,” Dean said of her daughter, now age 19. “I would be out on the streets looking for her.”

Miranda’s mom also described in a recent media interview incidents where Miranda  would harm herself. While in Alaska, Miranda’s alleged training ground for her crime spree, the teen was also known to hang out on the docks, winding up pregnant at young age.

After Barbour’s arrest, however, Dean was handed a journal that Miranda’s husband insisted was written by his teen wife. Inside of it, according to her mother, are the chronicles of a deranged killing spree that her mother insists ‘can’t be true.’

So what should be made of this alleged diary of a serial killer? Reporter Francis Scarcella, of the Daily Item, talked about his interview with Miranda, what evidence may be found in the journal, and if this teen should be believed in a story published in the New York Post.

Miranda fills in the missing days of her childhood with stories of horrors. She was part of a Satanic cult, she says, a gang that would perform occult rituals in the Alaskan woods.

She first killed at age 13.

“I lured a man into an alley that owed the gang leader money,” Miranda said.

“He shot the man and then gave me the gun and told me it was my turn. I hate guns and I couldn’t do it, so he put his hands on my hands and we pulled the trigger,” she said.

Authorities are still trying to find out if there is any truth to what Miranda is claiming.

Miranda explained at that point she knew she had something bad inside her and that Satanism let her embrace it.

After that, she said she only targeted “bad people” and those who had hurt children. She says she’s willing to “pinpoint on a map” where she murdered.

An ex-boyfriend, meanwhile, has given Dean an old journal he claims is Miranda’s — a diary the mother will not release but wants to talk to her about.

“There are things in here that just can’t be true,” Dean said. “Some of this I just don’t believe.

“I don’t believe she has done any of what she is saying, and I don’t know why she is saying all of these things.”

“Who’s to say how many,” Elytte said about his wife’s claims during a phone call placed to reporters.

“I know what she told me was 50-50.”

Authorities are still scrambling in various states trying to see if there is any truth to what Miranda is claiming.

Are Copycats Giving Satanists a Bad Name?

From the Houston Press/Camilo Smith

God is good, and for some Satan is, too.

Satanists don’t deserve the bad rap they’re getting after the recent news linking accused killers to the Prince of Darkness. The words “satanic ritual murder” or “occult killing” set off alarms in God-fearing people, and that’s probably why prosecutors and the media ran with it.

This hit home when two Harris County teens were charged with capital murder recently in what the Houston Chronicle referred to as an “occult killing.” Other news outlets headlined it “deal with the devil” or “ritual murder.”

“You now have people who are practicing the illusion of the occult,” says Michael Bradley, a Satanist and a regular in Houston’s goth scene. When you hear about people, especially teens, killing in the name of the devil, there’s probably mental illness involved, and an imagination twisted on images from metal music groups and hit movies that teens consume in hopes of scaring the shit out of their parents.

Blaming a supernatural force for causing someone to commit murder is disturbing and sad, and at this point, very unoriginal. Claiming “I did it for the devil,” is no different from people saying they were commanded by angels, God or other voices to commit murder,” says Bradley. “It’s unfortunate that it’s sensationalized,” he said. “The supernatural, the occult, help to relieve people of their responsibility.”

Satanists: Accused Craigslist killer not one of us

CNN Belief Blog

By Daniel Burke, Belief Blog Co-editor

(CNN) —  She’s not one of us.

That’s what Satanists are saying about accused “Craigslist killer” Miranda Barbour.

The 19-year-old told The Daily Item, a Pennsylvania newspaper, that she joined a satanic cult in Alaska when she was 13 and participated in several murders.

Barbour, who has been charged with one slaying in 2013, told the newspaper that she has been involved in  at least 22 killings.

But authorities haven’t corroborated her claims, and top Satanists say they have no ties to Barbour or her husband, Elytte Barbour, who is also charged in the 2013 killing of 42-year-old Troy LaFerrara. Police say LaFerrara responded to a “companionship” ad placed by Miranda Barbour on Craigslist.
